Stay Motivated to Ride in Chilly Weather: My Go-To Gear for Wakeboarding

Wakeboarding Lake of the Ozarks

Wakeboarding is my passion, but let’s be honest when the temperatures drop, it can be tough to stay motivated to hit the water. That being said, there’s something about riding in the cold that makes it feel like you’re getting away with something you shouldn’t be able to do. The air is crisp, the water is glassy, and the wake is actually better because the water molecules are more dense, giving you extra pop for bigger tricks. Of course, that also means the falls hit harder, but it’s a tradeoff I’m willing to make. These winter and early spring sessions are all about maintaining skills, keeping the muscle memory fresh, and preparing for those hot, sunny days when you feel unstoppable and ready to push your limits. Whether I’m in Fort Myers during the winter or back in Missouri as spring rolls in, I rely on a few key pieces of gear to keep me warm and comfortable so I can focus on riding. Here are four products that help me stay motivated and make every session more enjoyable, even when the weather is less than ideal.

1. Anetik Revolt Jacket – Staying Warm Before and After Sessions

One of the biggest challenges in chilly weather is managing body temperature before and after a ride. The Anetik Revolt Jacket is a game-changer for staying warm while I’m in the boat. It’s lightweight yet provides excellent insulation, keeping me comfortable between sets without feeling bulky. Plus, it’s designed to handle the elements, so I don’t have to worry about wind or light moisture while waiting for my next session.

2. XCEL Changing Towel – Making Wetsuit Changes Easy

Slipping into a wetsuit on a cold day can be a struggle, but the XCEL Changing Towel makes the process much easier. This oversized, warm towel gives me the privacy and coverage I need to change quickly and comfortably before hitting the water. It’s an essential part of my routine, especially when I’m dealing with early-season temperatures in Missouri.

3. XCEL Xfinity 3/2mm Wetsuit – Keeping the Chill Out

When the water is cold, a good wetsuit is non-negotiable. I trust the XCEL Xfinity 3/2mm Wetsuit to keep me warm without restricting my movement. The 3/2mm thickness provides the right balance of insulation and flexibility, allowing me to stay out on the water longer without feeling stiff or weighed down. It’s an absolute must for extending my wakeboarding season.

4. Anetik Mission Undershorts – Enhancing Mobility

One of the challenges of wearing a wetsuit is maintaining full mobility. That’s why I wear Anetik Mission Undershorts underneath. These lightweight, moisture-wicking shorts provide an extra layer of comfort while reducing any restriction from the wetsuit. They help me move freely and stay focused on my riding rather than any discomfort from my gear.

Ride Year-Round with the Right Gear

Having the right gear makes all the difference when it comes to staying motivated and performing at my best, even in chilly weather. These four products help me stay warm, comfortable, and ready to ride no matter the conditions. If you’re looking to extend your wakeboarding season, investing in quality gear like this can keep you on the water and progressing all year long!
